ABOUT US
The Millwater Mag was established in 2014, born out of a desire to provide much needed connection, local information and entertainment to the large number of people moving into the newly developed suburb of Millwater. The mag was swiftly adopted by locals as ‘their own’, with many residents and local businesses contributing content, as they still do today.
As Millwater became more established and our reputation grew, we expanded into Orewa with the introduction of The Orewa Mag, and delivery also began into the new suburb of Milldale.
With our local area continuing to grow and develop, and our content and advertisers expanding to encompass more and more of the Coast, we changed our name to The Coasties Mag, a name that represents, includes and connects ALL of our community on the Coast.
After steady growth we now distribute around 11,000 copies each month to local homes, businesses and magazine stands around the Hibiscus Coast. We regularly support local charities, organisations and events and we help foster local writing talent by employing a student writer, providing them with valuable real-world experience.

MEET THE TEAM
SARAH & GRAYSON FURNISS - OUR PUBLISHERS
Grayson and Sarah were both born and raised in Auckland, moving to the Hibiscus Coast in 2014. They have backgrounds in finance and teaching respectively and were the proud business owners of Mike Pero Real Estate in Millwater until early 2022. We are inspired by new experiences and places, yet remain deeply connected to the region we call home. Our perspective is shaped by a balance of exploration and a strong local focus.
CLAIRE NEVANS - OUR EDITOR
Claire grew up in West Auckland when it was still full of vineyards and orchards. She then spent several years in Central Auckland and the UK before moving to the Coast in 2014 with her husband and their young twins. After a career in investment banking she followed her love of words into a BA in English and Psychology, followed by graduate studies in editing. She now works as a content writer and freelance editor from her home in Millwater.
